ABSTRACT
Kaposi’s sarcoma affects about 0.02% of men and 0.01% of women. The number of cases reported in 2010 included 22 men and 9 women. The 1-year survival rates for patients diagnosed with Kaposi’s sarcoma in 2000-2002 were 80.4% and 70.6% for males and females respectively. In 2003-2005, the 1-year survival rate changed slightly: it was 73.3% for men and 74.7% for women [1]. At stages 1 and 2 of the disease, local treatment options are used. In some cases, observation is also possible. At stages 3 and 4 of the disease, systemic treatment is considered more beneficial, which can also be used in patients with stage 2 progressive disease.
