ABSTRACT
Skin lesions in diabetes
Skin lesions occur in about 15-40% of diabetic patients. The knowledge of skin symptoms associated with diabetes can help to diagnose them faster. Early treatment of common endocrinopathies is helpful in preventing serious complications. This paper discusses the most common skin diseases in diabetic patients, e.g. recurrent candidiasis, erysipelas, furuncles, furunculosis. The review includes skin lesions closely related to diabetes, such as rubeosis diabetica, diabetic dermopathy, scleroderma-like syndrome, scleroedema diabeticorum and diabetic foot, as well as skin conditions that require monitoring of blood glucose levels, such as necrobiosis lipoidica and keratosis nigricans.
