ABSTRACT
Woman with BRCA1 gene mutation following bilateral breast cancer treatment who developed acute pancreatitis
We report on the case of a 70-year-old woman, a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation, following oncological treatment due to bilateral breast cancer who developed acute pancreatitis. We discuss malignant tumor – (including metastasis) – induced acute pancreatitis, the possibility of metastases to the pancreas secondary to other cancers and the genetic syndromes and mutations associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer.
KEYWORDS: acute pancreatitis, BRCA1 gene mutation, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer screening.
