Podsumowanie

Żadna z wyżej wymienionych metod leczenia torbieli i ropni gruczołu Bartholina nie zyskała jeszcze miana postępowania z wyboru. Opisana metoda balonikowa wiąże się z redukcją liczby nawrotów nawet do 3% przypadków, ze statystycznie rzadszą koniecznością stosowania znieczulenia ogólnego, z niskimi kosztami, większym zadowoleniem pacjentek, a także krótszym czasem zabiegu.

Autorzy niniejszego opracowania zachęcają do stosowania metody balonikowej w codziennej praktyce ginekologicznej.

ABSTRACT

Foley catheter in treating Bartholin’s cyst

The diagnosis and treatment of Bartholin’s gland pathologies is a rather common clinical problem for every practising gynaecologist. This article not only discusses typical aspects of the diagnostic and therapeutic management of conditions of these glands, but also presents strategies for treating the most common disorders of Bartholin’s glands with easily accessible methods as alternatives to standard management, i.e., marsupialisation of the capsule.
The authors encourage gynaecologists to use the balloon catheter method for treating Bartholin’s gland cysts and abscesses in their daily practice. Use of the balloon catheter reduces recurrence rates to as low as 3% and is associated with a significantly less frequent need to resort to general anaesthesia, lowers costs, improves patient satisfaction and reduces surgical time.
