Podsumowanie
- Aby racjonalnie stosować probiotyki, niezbędna jest znajomość działania konkretnego szczepu probiotycznego, a nie tylko rodzaju lub gatunku, gdyż właściwości probiotyków są szczepozależne.
- Każdy ze szczepów wymaga oddzielnych badań w celu określenia jego właściwości probiotycznych i skuteczności w ściśle określonej sytuacji klinicznej.
- Nie ma podstaw naukowych do ekstrapolacji danych o szczepach, nawet blisko spokrewnionych; wyniki badań przeprowadzonych z określonym szczepem probiotycznym nie mogą być wykorzystywane jako dowód skuteczności innych, niepoddanych ocenie szczepów.
- Najlepiej udokumentowano skuteczność niektórych probiotyków w leczeniu ostrej biegunki infekcyjnej (np. LGG, S. boulardii) oraz w zapobieganiu biegunce poantybiotykowej (np. LGG; L. rhamnosus szczepy E/N, Oxy, Pen; Str. Salivarius thermophilus i B. lactis Bb12; S. boulardii; L. casei DN-114 001).
