ABSTRACT

Conjunctivitides in children – an ophthalmologist’s advice for paediatricians

This article presents selected form of conjunctivitides that paediatricians are most likely to encounter in their clinical practice. The diagnostic pathway, manifestations and methods of treatment are presented and discussed. A thorough history, including co-morbidities, and the finding of the characteristic manifestations are usually sufficient to make a correct diagnosis and implement appropriate treatment. Importantly, it is most often paediatricians and family doctors that offer first-line treatment to conjunctivitis sufferers.
