ABSTRACT
Work-related stress experienced by workers is a significant barrier to individual healthy psychosocial functioning. There are many psychosocial work hazards which can increase organizational stress, such as workload, understaffing or poor organizational culture. One of the negative consequences of work-related stress is burnout syndrome, a state of physical, emotional and spiritual fatigue. Various strategies have been proposed to treat and prevent burnout. Those strategies target the individual, the individual/organization interface or the organization.
