Rozpoznanie zakażenia HIV przy współistniejącej chorobie nowotworowej i rozpoczęcie terapii cART ma kluczowe znaczenie dla dalszego losu pacjenta.

Być może niebawem badania przesiewowe w kierunku HIV staną się w Polsce rutynowym badaniem w onkologicznej diagnostyce różnicowej, co w wielu wypadkach poprawiłoby rokowanie pacjenta. Ścisła kliniczna współpraca lekarzy chorób zakaźnych z onkologami zwiększa szanse chorego na uzyskanie jak najlepszych efektów terapii przeciwnowotworowej. Dotyczy to zarówno postawienia szybkiej diagnozy, jak i włączenia indywidualnie dobranej terapii cART.
